About Andrea Spalding

Whales
of the
West Coast

When I moved to the BC coast in 1990 frequent contacts with whales led me to find out more, and the quest led to this book. I present interviews with whale researchers and others involved with whales, discuss the history of the many interactions between people and whales, and explored their cultural significance. I have aimed to present lots of information but keep the tone light and make it accessible to the many people interested in whales.

I'll check on the intro - I suspect it would be OK.

Lots of the photos are mine, so we could do a "mini-slide show" as fast as we could digitize them. Perhaps I should send some over with Andrea when she comes in March.

The audience is adult, but because it is in short chapters with many boxes it would be suitable for schools as low as junior high. I know of a number of kids who have read and enjoyed it.

There's a good bibliography in the book, but I could pull out a short list of other titles if you think it would be useful. Links to other websites might be better - I'll choose some from the book.
