Hello, I'm David Spalding

I lecture on topics related to my current books, and have given public lectures in many libraries, museums and nature centres, and to natural history, history, science and paleontological societies. My talks are illustrated with slides, and suitable for a general audience, including older children.

Current readings and talks offered are:

  • Into the Dinosaurs' Graveyard
  • Whales of the West Coast

Recent engagements include the Calgary Public Library, Helen Schuler Nature Centre (Lethbridge), Newfoundland Museum, YY Library, Royal B.C. Museum, Royal Ontario Museum, Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology, Saskatoon Natural History Society, Victoria Paleontology Society, Victoria Public Library,

Talks in the Vancouver and Victoria areas can be arranged at relatively short notice, while others require some lead time, so that I can organize other engagements in the area. I normally charge $200 to speak, plus a contribution to my expenses outside lower Vancouver Island. A Canada Council grant program through The Writers' Union of Canada make it possible for some organizations to bring me in for public lectures at nominal costs.
